Point Place, Wisconsin – the familiar home of That 90s Show

Originally airing in 1998, That 70s Show went on to become one of the most notable sitcoms of all time. Fans of the series will recognize more than just the setting as they return to Point Place, Wisconsin, for the Netflix sequel That 90s Show.

Naturally, That 70s Show’s chaotic parents – Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty Forman (Debra Jo Rupp) – never left their beloved little house in Wisconsin. Now a couple of eras later, the Formans are grandparents and their granddaughter Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) has come for a summer visit.

With the instantly recognizable basement occupied by a new bunch of charming characters, That 90s Show promises to satisfy fans, old and new.

Is Point Place a real part of Wisconsin?

Well Point Place is not a real town in Wisconsin.

It is a fictional town located between Green Bay and Milwaukee in the north-midwestern state of Wisconsin, US.

The fictional town served as the setting for Eric (Topher Grace) and the gang in the original That 70s Show. Over the course of eight seasons, the teens got up to all kinds of fun (and trouble). No matter what happened, they would always regroup in Eric’s basement, much to the dismay of his angry father, Red Forman.

Forever trying to kill their boredom in the small town, the original series showcased various parts of Point Place. From the drive-in movie theater to the mall to the police academy, over the years audiences got to know the town as well as the characters.

That 90s Show returns to Point Place, Wisconsin, and to Eric’s former basement 20 years later, this time serving as a summer home to a new generation of reckless teens.

However, the town isn’t the only familiar feature…

The return of familiar faces

The original series launched the careers of many notable actors and actresses. Fans of the classic 70s-themed series will be delighted to witness the return of several familiar faces.

Many you’ll already know – Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp reprise their roles as Red and Kitty Forman.

Iconic characters such as Donna (Laura Prepon) and Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) return, no doubt teaching the teens a trick or two.

Prepon took to Twitter to share her snaps from the premiere of the new Netflix series:

An adorable picture of the actress and her co-star Debra Jo Rupp hugging tightly is enough to warm anyone’s heart. How cute!

Alongside Prepon, his onscreen dad Bob Pinciotti, played by Don Stark, will feature. Tommy Chong is set to return as the questionable character Leo. Topher Grace is confirmed as reprising the role of Eric for one episode.

Hyde (played by Danny Masterson) will not be returning.

No sequel would be complete without at least one shot of Jackie Burkhart, played by now Hollywood superstar Mila Kunis. Her husband, Ashton Kutcher, will also reprise his role in the gang as Michael Kelso.

With this array of familiar and talented faces, no doubt That 90s Show will bring to life the little Wisconsin town of Point Place for a new audience.
